Bristol Robotics Laboratory storage box
Gareth Griffins at the BRL designed low cost boxes to store a total of 472 Kilobots in four trays made of 6mm thick laser ply. Each tray has capacity for 118 robots using holes for the Kilobot legs. Manufacturing cost for each box with its trays is about £50. The design files are open (MIT License), and can be accessed here.
The advantage of the trays is that Kilobots can be easily moved from one place to another. The trays have also been particularly designed so that they can be taken directly to the charging stations to charge the robots without taking them out of the trays.
